About this piece
Kawaii;) is a music work which can be performed in any duration.
People’s senses are different for each, like how performers and audience feel, and to be precise, these can be affected by their physical condition, mood, environments and other elements, and they sometimes transform. In this work, I actualize the momentary “sense” to create the communication of performers, and between performed sound and audience. Through this communication, people may experience different, varied senses of others, and may or may not feel sympathy, to imagine, and to get closer in a way.
“Kawaii” is an immature and attractive, Japanese originated word. It has an aspect to refuse maturity which has not admired expression in western classical music in which integrated fineness and sublime are much valued. Not in persisting nor persuading way, but presenting momentary subjective feeling of performer in music to the audience, I pose a question, creating a communicative environment. “Kawaii” is delicate and opposite sense to aggressiveness of the today’s classical music experience that we live hectically in demanded financial efficiency and lots of competitions. Carefully focussing on this particular feeling with affection, it can be an affectionate moment and creates interactive creation and discovery of senses of individuals and the other, thinking about how their feelings can be exchanged.
《カワイイ^_-☆》は、任意の長さの時間演奏できる音楽である。
人の「感覚」は人の数だけ異なるものであり、弾き手、聴き手がどう感じるか、その時の体調、気分、空間など様々な要因までもが影響を及ぼし変容もする。この作品では、そのような「感覚」のいまその時を顕在化し、演奏或いは聴くことのコミュニケーションを通して、異なる感覚、多様な他者の感覚に触れ、共感したりしなかったり、 想像したり、寄り添ったりすることを目指している。
また、「カワイイ」は、日本語由来の言葉である。成熟を拒否したような特徴もあり、特に完成された立派さや崇高さに価値を見出してきた西洋クラシック音楽とは対極の価値観のひとつである。それを、主張し相手を説き伏せるのではないやり方で、その時の、奏者各々の主観的な音の知覚を聴き手に投げかけることで、問いかけ、対話を試みる。効率の良さが求められ、生き残りの競争が厳しく目まぐるしい今の時代のクラシック音楽体験にあって、「かわいい」を注視することで何を受け取り、何を差し出すか。
